What's not to love about this wedding photo?
I just love the opportunity to photograph the groom waiting for his bride at the wedding ceremony. You capture all manner of emotions and expressions for the couples wonderful wedding story.
This photo was taken on the couples 50th Wedding Anniversary, a day that they chose to renew their wedding vows in a relaxed and casual vow renewal ceremony and blessing at St Mary's Church, Bluntisham, Cambridgeshire, amongst their closest family and friends. The joy on his face as he awaits the arrival of his wife of 50 years to come and meet him once again at the alter, sends a cold shiver down my spine as I write this, because that ladies and gents is true love and is the reason I love doing what I do.
With my wedding photojournalistic approach to wedding photography, I have the privilege of photographing real moments in time. Creating a memory for the subject and their loved ones. If I'd asked this groom to look at me and smile, do you think I could have captured anything like the real, wonderful happy expression I've recorded here? Unlikely.
